What are flotels?
Flotels – a blend of the words “floating” and “hotels” – are floating units designed to provide temporary accommodation and support services to professionals working in offshore operations.
These vessels are widely used in sectors such as oil and gas, particularly during construction, maintenance, or intervention phases on platforms and subsea structures.
Capable of housing several hundred workers, these units offer comfortable living quarters, well-equipped common areas, and essential services such as food, laundry, and first aid, ensuring workers’ safety and wellbeing in a maritime environment.
Entirely self-sufficient, flotels are equipped with energy production systems, water treatment, and waste management, allowing continuous operation at sea without direct shore support. As mobile structures, they can position themselves near platforms or other offshore infrastructure, reducing travel time for workers and increasing operational efficiency.
